A Small Bedside Cot That Attaches to Your Adult Bed

A crib for bed will allow you to keep your baby close to you at night, without needing to get up. The fabric is breathable, which lets you easily see your baby and they're easy to lower for those tired 3am feeds.

Some double as a moses' basket.

What is a bedside crib?

A bedside crib, also referred to as a bassinet or co-sleeper is a baby cot that is attached to an adult bed. This allows your newborn to sleep next to you in safety. It's a method of co-sleeping that is safe and does not increase the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) like bedsharing and can help you build a bond with your baby's new arrival.

These cots often have a side that can be adjusted so that you can easily reach your baby throughout the night for feeding and comforting. This is particularly beneficial for mums recovering from an op. Many are also foldable or portable, so you can bring them along on trips and use them as a temporary sleeping solution for infants who aren't ready to transition into a cot that is full size.

When you are looking for a bedside crib, look for a model with a comfortable mattress and a cover to shield your infant from staining. You'll also want to purchase baby-safe accessories like a blanket, teether and a cuddly toy.

If you're looking for a long-term option, some cribs have conversion kits that let you convert them into a cot or toddler bed when the time comes. This is a great way to extend their life and making the transition more seamless. Some even have a removable top section that transforms into a bassinet, while others can be used as a regular or a high-rise adult bed. This is a great option for families that intend to frequently travel or switch between bedrooms at night. You should also consider the size of your bedroom to ensure you can fit the crib comfortably. Many cribs come with an incline which can be used to create an incline for babies with reflux.

The Joie Roomie Glide

The Roomie Glide, a bedside crib manufactured by the English brand Joie is a fantastic addition to their range of high-quality products for babies. Designed to help parents bond with their babies whilst sleeping together, without sharing a bed. This co-sleeper has features that help make bonding between parents safe, easy and fun.

A gentle rocking motion can be initiated by pressing a button. It can help soothe baby to sleep by a gentle rhythm that doesn't disrupt their natural sleeping routine. This is great for toddlers and older infants who are struggling to settle. It can aid in digestive issues such as reflux and colic.

The crib can also be fixed to the side of the bed by a strap and clip attachment. This makes the crib very solid and secure which allows you to rest comfortably without fearing that your baby will roll off into the middle. The rounded cocoon shape has softly padded sides and two mesh windows at both ends to allow for ample air flow while keeping your baby secure.

The mattress included is firm and comfortable and has a removable cover. The lightweight aluminium frame makes the crib extremely portable and easy to assemble. The four rubber-covered wheels lockable ensure that the crib will not leave marks on your flooring and is easy to move. The crib is easy to clean thanks to the fabric that wipes clean and is able to be easily tucked away in bags for the duration of your stay.

The Tutti Bambini CoZeeAir

Designed to be a safe next-to-me crib from birth to six months, this superior model comes with rocking bars as well as castors that allow for easy mobility. The airflow mattress is a premium model that provides a comfortable sleep surface while the ventilation panels keep your baby cool. There are six different height settings including an incline setting to aid in reducing reflux and congestion.

The Tutti Bambini COZee Air crib comes with a removable fabric and a wipe-clean lining. This makes it easier to clean than bedside cribs that can be messy to clean. Plus, it has an upper bar that is easily lowered for feeding at night without having to fumble with zips in the dark.

Anna discovered the CoZee to provide a safe, comfortable sleeping space for her baby. She was pleased that it didn't sway like other models, which meant it wasn't waking her at night when she was trying to comfort her baby during feeds. She also liked the fact that the side could be lowered so she didn't need to reach out over her partner to carry the baby out for feedings at night.

The CoZee is available in charcoal and oak and is a chic addition to the bedroom. It's more an elegant piece of furniture than some of the other cribs that we've tried, which appear quite utilitarian. It's also quite light at 11kg and comes with a carry case which allows you to take it away on holidays or if you're moving home. You only need to purchase an extra waterproof sheet and safety strap for sleeping together. The instructions and images are simple to follow once you open the box.

The Maxi-Cosi Lora

The Iora is a bassinet designed for infants designed to make parents feel closer to their infant while they sleep. It can be adjusted both up and down and moved to three different slide positions, to fit under the parent's bed or in the corner so that the baby is always in reach. The mesh siding is breathable, allowing air to circulate through and lets you glance at your child. And  bedside crib and cot  can store extra pajamas and supplies in the large storage basket underneath.

Unlike some other smaller bedside crib options Iora is a standout among other bedside cribs. Iora can be folded flat and comes with a travel bag which allows it to be taken anywhere. It was easy to move from room to room and our mum testers felt it was the perfect size for a bedside crib. The large storage basket is ideal for storing extra bedding or nappies.

This is a great option for parents looking to co-sleep, but do not want to share their own beds, or whose partners might have mobility issues, like arthritis or back pain.  cheap bedside cot  loved the ease with which they could access their child while in the Iora and that it had an adjustable reflux incline that helped to reduce gas.

Our mums also love the fact that it complies with NICE guidelines which state that you should place the infant in a crib or Moses basket on its own (with no blankets, toys, pillows, etc). The mattress is also sturdy and comfortable for the baby and sheets are easy to find. It's not as light as other smaller bedside cribs, though and if you're looking for something lighter and easier to move around, think about one of the alternatives on our list.
